Our Process

We appreciate that parents like yourself have a lot on their minds. That’s why the crew at Skyward Spectrum is here to give you a first-class onboarding and ABA therapy experience, holding your hand every step of the way.

Here’s an overview of our process:

01

Collect Insurance Card and Other Documentation

Your dedicated intake coordinator will get to know you and walk you through the process of compiling any paperwork that your insurance plan will require. We will need a diagnostic report, referral from a doctor, and your insurance information.

02

Review Benefits and Funding Requirements
We’ll contact your insurance plan to find out what coverage is available to your child, and what funding (if any) will be required from you.

03

Intake Meeting
We’ll have an intake meeting where you get to review Skyward Spectrum’s policies, discuss specific availability, and take the next steps to proceed with treatment.

04

Request Authorization from Insurance

We will contact your insurance provider to request an authorization for services.

05

Behavior Assessment and Treatment Plan

We will introduce you to your Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), who will be working with you and your child going forward. Your BCBA will conduct a behavior assessment and write a treatment plan based on the services we offer. We will review the assessment and treatment plan with you to ensure your satisfaction. Then, we’ll submit the treatment plan to your insurance plan for approval.

06

Get Ready for Takeoff
We’ll introduce you to your Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), who will work with your BCBA to administer the treatment plan. We’ll schedule your first session and get started!

FAQs

1. What is the first step in the ABA therapy process?

The ABA therapy process begins with an initial intake and pre-flight consultation. During this step, our team gathers background information, reviews any existing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic reports, and verifies your health insurance benefits to ensure a smooth, worry-free start.

2. How is the initial functional behavioral assessment conducted?

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts a thorough assessment by observing your child in their natural environment, evaluating their communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors, and interviewing caregivers. This evaluation identifies your child’s unique strengths and areas for growth to form the foundation of their custom treatment plan.

3. How are individualized ABA therapy plans created?

Using data from the initial assessment, the BCBA designs a tailored behavior plan with specific, measurable goals. This plan outlines 1-on-1 teaching strategies, positive reinforcement schedules, and behavior reduction techniques aimed at helping your child develop functional communication, emotional regulation, and daily living skills.

4. Do you offer ABA therapy in home, school, and community settings?

Yes. To ensure skills carry over into real-life situations, our therapists provide flexible support across multiple environments. Whether practicing daily routines at home, navigating social interactions at school, or learning community safety skills, we adapt direct 1-on-1 therapy to fit your child’s daily schedule.

5. What role do parents play in the ABA therapy process?

Parents and caregivers are vital co-pilots in our therapy approach. We provide dedicated parent training and guidance sessions to teach you positive reinforcement strategies, communication techniques, and behavior management tools. This ensures that the progress your child makes during sessions continues seamlessly in everyday family life.

6. How do you track and adjust my child’s progress over time?

Therapists collect real-time data during every single therapy session. Your supervising BCBA continuously analyzes this data to track skill acquisition and behavioral trends, holding regular progress reviews with your family to update goals and adjust strategies as your child meets key developmental milestones.
